Ralph Houston (MacMurray) crusades for the truth, while Charles Gillette (Lloyd Nolan) fashions tabloid-style headlines to shoot each edition off the stands like a newspaper airplane. When Ralph turns down a buyout offer from Gillette, the refusal angers his sweetheart, Vina Swain (Farmer). Vina agrees to work for the rival paper to spite Ralph and her father (Charles Ruggles), also a journalist.
