Review Text
In the cold Youngstown, Ohio winter of 1999, Via Sahara was formed. A jam night at a corner bar spawned an immediate chemistry between the band's members. Only 3 months after forming, Via Sahara played it's first show in front of a crowd of over 800 people. Since their initial trial by fire the band has been maturing in both their live performances and songwriting. And with 2 albums under their belt, Via Sahara has continued to develop their following across the region. Since their inception, Via Sahara has shared the stage with some of today's top regional and national acts, including 3 Doors Down ('away from the sun' tour), Seether, The Clarks, Mushroomhead, Diffuser, SR-71, and Sinomatic to name a few. And in between these higher profile shows, the band still found time to reach mass audiences through music festivals, events for charity and touring along the east coast. The band recently had the opportunity to co-headline Youngstown's own Vex-Fest, an all day outdoor music festival with over 4,000 in attendance. The band was also recently selected as a finalist in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's national battle of the bands. Selected as one of twelve bands out of over 250 hand-picked from across the U.S. Via Sahara's sound approaches a wide range of musical styles while keeping it's feet firmly planted in the guitar driven melodic rock that inspired it's members.
