In 'Behind The Moon', Trey and Sara Thompson create engaging, intimate vocal and instrumental renditions of some classic jazz standards like Stella by Starlight and April in Paris, as well as writing their own jazz and contemporary songs. This collection is exciting, improvisational and conversational throughout; Concentrating on small ensemble settings - duos, trios and quartets - featuring Michael Ruff on acoustic piano and Tris Imboden (Chicago) on drums (see credits below). Co-producer/engineer extraordinaire Ron Pendragon, has engineered and produced for ETW, Ramsey Lewis and many, many others. Trey has performed and/or recorded with Larry Carlton, Joe Cocker, Jose Feliciano, Steven Stills, Graham Nash, Cher, Les Dudek, Mike Finnigan, Jim Krueger, James Newton-Howard, David Foster, Amy Holland, Michael McDonald, Jim Mandell, Linda Thompson, as well as many others. He studied under Dick Grove, Herb Mickman, Carol Kaye and Joseph Valenti. Trey spent years touring with some of those hard working bands (in the 70's and 80's), and worked in the Los Angeles area as a session player and touring musician. Trey also worked with Mike Post, playing music for the television shows Hill Street Blues, Magnum PI, Hunter and others. Sara has always had a strong passion for music and spends her time writing songs for her own use, as well as for others. She writes many different styles of music. She has aired a song called 'Little Whisper' on the local Christian radio station, has won an award at the Kauai Music Festival for a song she co-wrote with Trey called 'If Angels Weep', has recorded vocals for other artists on Kauai, and is currently writing songs for an upcoming new artist on Kauai. Sara wrote 'Behind The Moon' during the recording of this album. In this song, she shares the intensity and love one feels when empowered with a gift to help another in need, when it seems the odds are insurmountable. Today, Trey, Sara, and their sons Taylor & Wyatt make their home on Kauai. Trey and Sara can often be found performing at one of the local evening venues with a trio or a quartet.
