Synopsis

This video presents violin virtuoso Ida Haendel, in performance with the Orchestra of Radio-Canada in Montreal, with Franz-Paul Decker conducting. The Polish-born Haendel began her professional career in 1936 at the age of eleven. Beloved for her performances for Allied troops during World War II, Haendel gained international recognition for her signature interpretation of Sibelius' Violin Concerto. In this video performance, Haendel plays Brahms' Violin Concerto and the Carmen Fantasy by Sarasate. ~ Rose of Sharon Winter, Rovi
