'We turn not older with years but newer every day.' Emily Dickinson Special thanks to my good friend and acclaimed fingerstyle guitarist El McMeen whose brilliance as a guitarist is matched by his skill as a teacher and mentor. Without him, this CD would not have been possible. Deep gratitude goes to Marc Moss (Target Studios, Red Hook, NY) who provided his ears, technical expertise and exceptional musicianship to record and mix the majority of the tracks, complete the mastering, design the cover, and stick with me through the length of this project. I am also indebted to Chris Kirby and Kevin Nemith of Digital Street Studio (Dover, DE) for recording Take Five; and Cliff Hillis for recording Lament for Owen Roe O'Neill and Tears. All amazing musicians, songwriters, and performers with wonderful engineering skills. I am grateful to my musical pals Tim Alexander, John Green, Rick Schuman, Tish Schuman, Alvin Clayton Pope and Dave Brown. A Special Note on the guitar tunings: I enjoy working with alternate tunings on the guitar and have a particular fondness for DADGAD. Many tunes typically associated with the jazz oeuvre on this CD are arranged in DADGAD, which I believe is a first for these tunes. These include Blue Monk, Round Midnight, Take Five, and the others as noted. Cover picture of a Franklin OM by Marc Moss. My inside cover picture by Life on the Edges. Back cover picture by Dave Brown. Guitars by Nick Kukich (Franklin OM) and Martin Guitars. I am proud to be associated with Piney Ridge Music. Recorded and mixed by Marc Moss of Target Studios except as noted above. (targetstudios.com). All tunes mastered by Marc Moss at Target Studios. This album is dedicated to my wonderful wife Christine and my sons of whom I am most proud: Ben, Alec and Colin.
