Sagan Youth have traveled many light-years and have many more to go. The duo's second full-length release Cela is a 10-song science-fiction concept album chronicling the journey to and exploration of Saturn's icy moon Enceladus. The story is portrayed not only through vividly emotive tracks but also by an intricate comic which graces the inside of the album's gatefold sleeve. Cela was laboriously recorded using only analog synthesizers, effects, and tape units, creating a complex tapestry of organically evolving overtones. Drawing upon the rich history of electronic music, from mid-20th century avant-garde to hypnotic Komische, Sagan Youth create idiosyncratic electronic expressions. They fluidly modulate between different soundscapes and emotional timbres, but always with underlying themes of compassionate questioning, open-mindedness, and an awe of Nature. 'Imagination will often carry us to worlds that never were. But without it we go nowhere.' - Carl Sagan.
