Review Text
This is S'killit's earliest recording, completed in 1995. Like the band's current release, 'Dig Down', it features seven unique musicians whose collective credits include Southside Johnny, The Blues Brothers' Band, Ray Barreto, John Lurie's Lounge Lizards, Pinetop Perkins and Mona Lisa Overdrive. Blues, jazz and New Orleans-styled Americana all collide here. Several of the songs give a sardonic 'musician's-eye view' of the 'music business', including 'If Your Phone Don't Ring' (a blast of comic vengeance against musical lameness). and the madcap rant 'Gratitude' (which is ragingly indescribable!). New Orleans-style breakdowns and groove-based homages to everything 'Beat' are also found here. If you liked 'Dig Down', you'll dig it's older brother!
