Combining influences from alternative, progressive, and popular music, Where Miles Become Meaning sounds unique yet familiar with layers of contagious melodies and inspiring harmonies. The album opens fast and loud, and keeps the listener involved through all 11 tracks with an array of catchy choruses and intricate verses. The album closes with an emotional impact, all five band members singing in harmony, and a poetic last line: 'this has only just begun'. The album was recorded at Pyramid Sound Studios in Ithaca, NY and mastered at Georgetown Masters in Nashville, TN. Underwater Tiger began making alternative rock music in the suburban town of Horseheads, NY when brothers Matt Furstoss (drums, vocals), Anthony Furstoss (guitar), and Ron Furstoss (bass) combined talents with brothers Nate Miner (guitar, vocals), and Andy Miner (guitar) in 2010. The families knew each other in high school, and left their respective bands to create Underwater Tiger after college, drawing upon a variety of alternative and punk influences. Their songs are marked by poetic lyrics, emotionally driven impacts, and catchy intertwining vocal melodies backed by powerful and sometimes dreamlike instrumentals. The band quickly gained local notoriety, raising just under $5,000 via an Indiegogo campaign to shoot a music video in promotion of their first single 'Bones'. In 2012, the band independently released their debut album Where Miles Become Meaning and supported it with a barrage of short tours in the Northeast. In 2013 the band refreshed their writing process, forming the brick and mortar of their upcoming Find the Right Words EP. During the recording process of the EP, guitarist Andy Miner left Underwater Tiger, leaving them to continue on as a quartet. Find the Right Words EP will be released in Fall 2014.
