The Racketeer

Mahlon Keane is a New York crime boss with a heart of gold who meets divorced and disgraced socialite Rhoda Philbrooke at a society fundraiser and is immediately smitten when he notice her cheating at poker. Rhoda is in desperate situation indeed trying to care for her alcoholic lover, violinist Tony Vaughan, and only with Keane's money and connection does Vaughan make a recovery. With his career revived Tony's future is looking bright but Rhoda finds herself torn between the musician she has cared for and the gangster who wants to take care of her.
