Here, together with his orchestra Parlando, he explores music as a tool of cultural resilience in the face of censorship, particularly within the Soviet Union. This eclectic program includes Shostakovich's Adagio from Lady MacBeth of Mtsensk, a work infamously censored after Stalin's disapproval, the Concertino for Violin and String Orchestra by Mieczyslaw Weinberg, a composer whose career was shaped by persecution during Stalin's anti-cosmopolitan campaign, and Edvard Mirzoyan's Symphony for String Orchestra and Timpani, which is a powerful testament to Armenian cultural survival despite Soviet Russification. Inspired by Parlando's mission that \"every concert tells a story\", the album ends with three narrated tracks detailing Soviet censorship.\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"Delos Records","offers":[{"title":"New \/ CD \/ Mirzoyan, Shostakovich \u0026 Weinberg: Censored Anthems Delos Records","offer_id":48542094065972,"sku":"DLS3610.2","price":23.99,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0790\/7436\/1652\/files\/4394876-3312234_eb8257c8-3f5c-480e-a92c-957daead10fe.jpg?v=1791483887","url":"https:\/\/www.fye.com\/products\/parlando-mirzoyan-shostakovich-weinberg-censored-anthems_aec-dls3610-2","provider":"FYE","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
