Orff/ Thielemann/ German Opera Berlin - Carmina Burana

With this recording, Christian Thielemann (known for delivering fresh, must-hear/controversial interpretations) challenges Herbert Von Karajan - who was unable to resist performing this work by Orff - but also Eugen Jochum (Jochum's Deutsche Grammophon recording of Carmina Burana with the same chorus and orchestra as Thielemann's Carmina was, for years, the yardstick by which all other recordings were measured). This is, indeed, a superb performance and the sound is overwhelming in it's impact.
