Grief Street (1931)

The police are baffled when celebrated actor, Alvin Merle, is mysteriously killed in his dressing room behind a locked door so it's up to ace reporter Jim Ryan to try and break the case. His first clue to the mysterious crime comes by way of lovely Jean Royce, a former understudy at the same show.
