Glaxo Babies were born out of the thriving Bristol punk scene in 1977. They enjoyed Indie chart success with the 12" EP 'This Is Your Life' in 1979 and notoriety when it's follow up 'Christine Keeler' was banned by Radio One. John Peel, who offered them sessions and gigs with his legendary road show, championed the Glaxo Babies. Sadly though, the band was always too recalcitrant, headstrong and idealistic for their own good and imploded acrimoniously after barely 18 months together. With a sense of unfinished business, the nucleus of the original band (Rob Chapman - vocals, Dan Catsis - guitar, Charlie Llewellyn - drums) reformed in 1985. Here are the results, inventive and melodic psychedelic pop and warped funk that somehow sounds fresher now than it did in the 1980's. Cherry Red. 2007.
