We're excited to announce the release of a Candle Records Compilation with a difference. Flipside features 10 songs by Candle acts, remixed by artists of their choice. A collection of great songs being reinterpreted and rearranged, rather than your typical remix album, Flipside has been 9 months in the making, and we're extremely proud of the result. Ruck Rover kick off the compilation with one of the more energetic tracks, a wonderful merging of two of their songs 'The Motor Scooter' & 'Why Don't the Poor Take Up Tennis' to form the infectious 'Wealth, Fame & Happiness.' J. Walker from Machine Translations lends his trademark sound to Anthony Atkinson's 'Break in the Weather.' 'Coffin' from Richard Easton's latest album gets re-energized by Phil Romeril from the Small Knives. Jodi Phillis' gentle acoustic 'Leaves' from 'In Dreams I Live', now with the full band arrangement. 'Siamese Couplets' from the Guild League gets the cut 'n' paste treatment from Melbourne's Two4K. Golden Rough's wonderful 'Provenance' is now heavily filtered with vocoder vocals. Qua turns Darren Hanlon's amazing 'Falling Aeroplanes' into a gorgeous string symphony. Isnod gives a music box delicacy to Tim Oxley's beautiful 'Weeping in Love.' Pipas from the UK do an amazing pop-tastic version of the Lucksmiths' 'How to Tie a Tie'. The epic closing track 'Shifting Sands' by the Mabels originally featured on one their 7inch singles. 'Flipside' highlights the strengths of the songwriters on the label and even with the new collaborations the songs are still the stars.
