Digitmovies presents for the first time on CD the OST by Fabio Frizzi for the 1986 movie "Superfantagenio" (aka "The genie") directed by Bruno Corbucci and starring Bud Spencer as a corpulent, but very good genie of the lamp, Luca Venantini (son of the actor Venantino Venantini), Janet Agren and Umberto Raho. The fable of Alladin is transported in the modern-day Miami. A teen-ager called Al Haddin (Venantini) finds a magic lamp and he awakes a genie (Spencer), who has been sleeping for 200 years, and gives his gratitude to the teen-ager grating him to make true his wishes. The score of "Superfantagenio" is written by composer Fabio Frizzi (Bologna, 1951), prolific author of soundtracks teamed with Franco Bixio & Vince Tempera (the noted Bixio-Frizzi-Tempera trio, authors of scores like "Vai gorilla", "Febbre da cavallo", "Sella D'argento", "Sette note in nero"). As solo composer he penned scores like "Amore libero - free love", "Manaos", "Zombi 2", "Assassinio al cimitero etrusco" and "L'aldilĂ ". in more recent times he has spent time scoring television series with very good results like "Un ciclone in famiglia", "Il capitano", "Regina dei fiori", "Le ragazze di San Frediano", "Per una notte d'amore". in 1986 Cinevox Record already issued an album of "Superfantagenio" (MDF 33/176) with 14 tracks, but besides the original stereo album master we have also found the edit version of the theme song "The genie" used for the movie finale and not included on the original 33 rpm album. The OST is based on "The genie", the main theme, a lovely motif with dance music style performed by noted singer Adriano Pappalardo and his son Laerte. This theme is reprised with different instrumental arrangements, first as an epic version (Tr.4), then a fast one in dance style (Tr.6, Tr.13), a slow-tempo version (Tr.7), as the instrumental version of the theme song (Tr.9) and as the vocal reprise of the Finale (tr.15). Frizzi wrote his tribute to the Ragtime music of Scott Joplin (Tr.3, Tr.11) and he also provided mystery music (Tr.10) and action music (Tr.5, Tr.12). As bonus tracks we include the music by Fabio Frizzi from the OST of the cult movie "Vienti avanti cretino", a funny comedy directed in 1982 by Luciano Salce and starring Lino Banfi. We could only find the master tape used for the original 45 rpm of Cinevox Record (MDF 139) with a nice main theme with twist tempo, a vocal version sung by Lino Banfi (also author of the lyrics) and an instrumental version with choir. Two cult OST from the '80s rescued on compact disc for the joy of many fans of Bud Spencer and Lino Banfi.
