2010 collection. By the early 1960s, Bob Dylan was the face of Folk music and, by 1965, he had outgrown the confines of what many considered to be truly Folk music and began to incorporate Rock, Blues and Country influences into his songwriting. Dylan and the Byrds kicked the door open and were soon followed by scores of others and a more commercial version of the music emerged with artists like Glen Campbell, Bobbie Gentry, the Turtles and Sonny and Cher coming to the fore, with their songs becoming hits on the Pop charts. With all of this happening, Nashville, as a recording center, was not going to lose out on their slice of the pie $$ from this new music This compilation focuses on some of the little known Folk, Country and Pop produced by Nashville's independent labels in the 1960s.
