Blechblaser Zinzinnati - Blechblaser Zinzinnati Over the Rhine

Blechbläser Zinzinnati, comprised of members of the Cincinnati Symphony and Pops orchestra, is devoted to performing German brass music as was heard in Cincinnati around the turn of the 20th century. Using original instrumentation and playing from authentic hand-written parts, Blechbläser Zinzinnati recreates the the music which might have been heard at German festivals or in the numerous beer halls frequented by ethnic Germans which existed in Cincinnati at that time. The Source of Blechbläser Zinzinnati's music is from from original manuscripts discovered in the library of Henry Wohlgemuth, German native and former Principal Trumpet of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra from the 1920's through the 1950's. Unlike other German bands, the music is scored for only 4 brass instruments, and most likely was performed by other members of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. Interesting are the various musical styles represented: Bavarian folk music, German drinking songs, transcriptions of the music of Meyerbeer or Brahms, or solemn Lutheran chorale tunes.
