Review Text
Digitally remastered edition of this 1962 album from the American singer, songwriter, playwright, poet, and civil rights activist. Oscar Brown Jr. has been called 'genius' by Dorothy Kilgallen, 'exceptional' by Steve Allen, 'beautiful' by Eleanor Roosevelt and 'authentically hip' by Nat Hentoff. A man of extraordinary talents who became a star in a phenomenally short time. On this album he sings 12 original songs including two musical settings of poems by other writers. The orchestral arrangements for two - 'Mr. Kicks' and 'Hazel's Hips' - are by Quincy Jones.
