The CD reflects the band's eclectic style, ranging from beach music, to classic rock, R & B, & blues. 'Everyone needs an escape, and ours is music' says Billy Mitchell, band frontman, 'So we decided to create a destination, a state of mind, filled with our concoction of musical styles and call it 'Gumbo Beach.' You can smell the salt water on songs like 'Float Away' & 'Frozen Drinks' while tunes like 'I Hear It' and 'Gimme the Gun' will raise your body temperature like cayenne pepper. Since 1995 the band has played venues in Christie's in Newport, Dick's Last Resort in Boston, and The House of Blues in Los Angeles. Band members are veteran performers of over 20 years. Billy Mitchell, (vocals, guitar, and harp) and Pat Smith (vocals, rhythm) sang with the a cappella group, The Hudsons ; Ken Sheehan, (vocals, lead guitar) played with NRBQ, and Andy Webb (vocal, bass) was formerly with Three Legged Horse.
