Greetings from Myrtle Beach songs were written from the ground up to be danced to and to be played loud! Tempos and songs styles remain true to the shag traditions of the past while the lyrics contain the wonderment of learning to shag from square one sprinkled with references to the Carolinas and the Myrtle Beach dance scene. Since dancing was the primary goal of the CD, the result is a collection of new songs that pay homage to the past while being inspired by the bright future of beach music! Singer/songwriter Michael Wayne Avery puts his talents to good use in this new and original collection of beach and shag music. Helping out on four tracks is former Billy Scott and the Prophets drummer and beach music legend, Don Hamrick. Also on hand is long-time collaborator "Dangerous" Dan Anderson adding percussion and Lou "Chili" Iliano contributing tasteful steel drums on a track. While all four musicians played on the Anderson-Avery Tropical Band's Make Waves release, this release focuses on original songs inspired by growing beach and shag music scene of Carolinas and beyond. The Greetings from Myrtle Beach CD is a must for any shag and beach music fan or anyone who would like to learn to this Carolina dance!
