Synopsis

Detailed reenactments and extensive interviews highlight this History Channel documentary focusing on the gripping saga of the Apollo 13 space mission. The crew of the Apollo 13 shuttle was making preparations for an upcoming lunar landing when the unthinkable happened: a massive explosion nearly destroyed the spacecraft, threatening to spell doom for everyone aboard. With no electrical power and oxygen levels dwindling, the freezing crew struggled to remain warm as Captain James Lovell hatched a plan to fashion an improvised "lifeboat" that was the crew's only hope of getting back home alive. Meanwhile, down on Earth, Mission Control began to suspect they might never see the crew of the Apollo 13 again. Miraculously, Captain Lowell's plan proved to be a success, and the crew lived to tell their remarkable tale of survival in space. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
