American Songster: Larry Hanks and Deborah Robins' second foray into duo singing of old American songs, is a delightfully programmed collection sung in elegant and eclectic harmonies: two rich voices (he, of bass-baritone fame, and her resonant alto) melding wonderfully with only acoustic guitars for accompaniment, offer up a survey of the American experience through song. Influenced by Sam Hinton, Utah Phillips, Leadbelly, The New Lost City Ramblers, Raphael Boguslav, and many others; Hanks and Robins bring a charm to non-performance-oriented singing as it was meant to be!
