In an industry run amuck by braindead bling-rap, cheeseball pop, and watered down rap-rock garbage, a breath of fresh air has come to get the scene off life support. This breath of fresh air comes in the form of Kulture Shokk, Baltimore's rowdiest 'punk rap' outfit. The genre-defying quartet is made of emcees B-Trip, Kegger, and MK, and backed by DJ Test. Kulture Shokk's sound can best be described as a melting pot of the groups collective influences. From punk to funk to classic rock to old-school hip hop, every possible influenced seems to encompass Kulture Shokk's sound. The group's versatile debut, Shokk Value (10/19/04) ranges from all-out party jams (Lordy Lordy) to conscious rants about the state of affairs in music today (Danger). With a live show that can best be described as not-so-controlled chaos, and an undeniable drive, Kulture Shokk looks to make a mark on the scene for years to come. STAY DOWN.
