Rooted in both traditional and modern forms, John Raymond's music incorporates jazz, classical, folk and indie-rock influences. He has collaborated with musicians such as Billy Hart, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Orrin Evans, Linda Oh, Ethan Iverson, Dan Tepfer and Gilad Hekselman among others. He has also recorded with Grammy-nominated singer Sara Bareilles, Dove Award-winning producer Darnell Davis, and performed at events such as the Austin City Limits Music Festival and on NPR's 'Toast of the Nation.' John's last album Real Feels featuring rising stars Gilad Hekselman and Colin Stranahan was released early 2016 to wide critical acclaim, earning a 4.5 star review and Top 100 jazz albums of the year from Downbeat Magazine, who called it "Electrifyingly new and strangely familiar at the same time... with his mix of modern sounds and old-fashioned feeling, Raymond is steering jazz in the right direction." On this album, Minnesota born, NYC-based trumpeter John Raymond reprises 'Real Feels' with a live album recorded over several dates in 2016. In this live format, the group is able to stretch out over the tunes more, leading to Downbeat again praising the group, stating in a new review that "The cohesion developed with his nimble band is palpable... The trio beautifully reconfigures "Amazing Grace" into a ballad that sounds like it belongs in the Great American Songbook rather than a hymnal."
