A musical poet from the Southeastern United States and a double bassist from the suburbs of Buenos Aires have consolidated a powerful duo unlike anything or anyone. Stretching far beyond their traditional roots, they have created a fantastic work of art with extensive tonal subtleties. Joe Troop (fiddle, banjo) and Diego Sánchez (double bass) obtain remarkable breadth with only two instruments and their voices. To build texture in their compositions they have adopted techniques such as using the bow and banjo head percussively, layering with harmonics and pizzicato. Joe is a formidable multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter. With irony and poetry, he leads us through an existential odyssey of tones and emotion. Diego soulfully moves around the bass with amazing agility and uncanny range through the upper register. "Cheap Sacred Texts and Microwaves" is a delightful and unique contribution to contemporary acoustic music.
