JIDDU KRISHNAMURTI POEMS SET TO MUSIC BY GEOGRE STEFANAKIS This work is the completion of my creative wandering of many years, accompanied by the offering of certain people, who have stood by me at the right moment. Today, after seven years of creative work, most poems of Jiddu Krishnamurti have been set to music. Their publication commences with the first CD titled after the poem 'Come Away', including the first ten songs from the chapter 'Prose Poems'(1) This work has not been limited within specific music boundaries. It comprises a balanced combination between my knowledge of music and my heart's sentiments. Times are changing and in different eras different methods must be used to reach those who are yearning for light. There is something else. They all have given mankind inspiration and courage to see farther than just material existence. This inspiration can be seen everywhere if you dare to look. However one of the most beautiful forms is music, the universal language of all of us. There is a Greek guy George Stefanakis who has been inspired by great Krishnamurti. If you have followed Krishnamurti's ideas then you would probably like to see how the vibrations of these ideas have been changed into music George Stefanakis has written. Epstein (Israel) http://dmme.net/reviews/reviews 41. ^#^html#krish Some poems readily lend themselves to music, so it's rather surprising nobody turned Jiddu Krishnamurti's works into songs before George Stefanakis whose dedication to the Indian wordsmith's train of thought made him embark on a 10-disc journey of which 'Come Away' is the first part. Far from meditation noodling many others offer in a similar situation, this album focuses on the songs that run from almost sublime to rather mediocre. If the soft flow of 'My Heart Dances With Thy Love' feels enchanting in the shroud of entwined guitars and strings pulled over Stefanakis' piano's bedrock, 'At The Potter's Vessels' dwells in the sticky electrodance twilight. Then, while 'In The Corruption Of The Known' sounds somewhat pretentious with it's simplistic melody and a cello coating, and 'I Am All' is an overlong, though warm, piano-and-woodwind waltz, sharp guitar riffing takes the 'I Walked On A Path' tabla-driven trance buzz to some other plain. The problem is the best tunes make the first part of the record leaving the second pale. Hopefully, the next volume will be balanced better.
