Synopsis

Jake Shimabukuro, a 28-year-old Hawaiian musician of Japanese ancestry, has quickly built a reputation as a virtuoso on the ukulele, making tremendous inroads into Hawaii's music scene and establishing himself as a local celebrity. He appears live in the home release, Jake Shimabukuro: A Million Miles Away, which documents his 2004 "Rainbow Tour." Intercutting footage from rehearsals, concerts, and pre-concert prep, A Million Miles Away features four segments with Shimabukuro: an introductory sequence, in which he performs "Heartbeat" and "Walking Down Rainhill"; a sequence covering his musical collaboration with The Devil's Strings Quartet, in which he plays "6 in the Morning," "Heartbeat," and "Rainbow"; an intimate concert for a small crowd at a beach house, where he plays "Crosscurrent," "Blue Roses Falling," "Touch," and "Crazy G"; and a closing serenade to the ocean at dusk, where he plays "Tradewinds." ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
