Greg Russell is a former heavy metal singer living a streetwise existence, who underwent a storybook transformation into a Contemporary Christian Music artist and family man. He grew up in Kenosha, Wisconsin, a town located on the Illinois state line not far from Chicago's northern suburbs. 'I always knew as long as I could remember that God had a calling on my life.' He remembers as a youngster constantly talking to God even though he didn't know God personally or know how to come to Him. Then as a teenager he began reading a Bible that his mother bought him resulting in his giving his life to Jesus Christ in his late teens. Two things happened after his conversion to Christ. He started looking for a church to attend, and found one 'which freaked me out, but I felt God was there, so I stayed.' And he began writing and singing Contemporary Christian Music, performing it at secular gigs throughout the Chicago, Milwaukee, Kenosha, and Green Bay areas as well as at appearances throughout Mid-Illinois and Northern Wisconsin. Now living in a Denver suburb with his wife and five kids, Greg sings, records, is the worship pastor at his church, mentors Christians, and is involved in both the music industry and the video production industry. But whatever he does, the ministry of Jesus Christ is at the core. 'Music is the language of the soul,' he says. “I want what I say through music to bring good things to those who listen.'.
