2018 release. The Gospel Legends started in 1990 in Columbia, SC at a church named Faith, Hope, and Charity Deliverance Temple. Every member at that time, was a part of other gospel groups that were in the Columbia area, including Scott and Allen, who got their start with their parents, Rev. Willie Pringle and The Meditations. This was the place that many younger musicians met up to play together. There were many traditional gospel groups, such as Rev. Julius Cheeks, The Mighty Clouds of Joy, The Blind Boys, The Gospel Keynotes, Rev. Willie Pringle and many others that the group would imitate when they would do local concerts. When establishing a distinguish name, the group wanted to pay homage to all those Quartet Legends who paved the way before them, which is where The Gospel Legends name come from. If you listen carefully to most of their songs, you can still hear the traditional sound of those legendary groups.
