Review

Review Text Though he was born in London, England, as Gerald Walcan Bright, the name Geraldo seems more appropriate for this British musician's eventual career as a bandleader. As a young man, Geraldo traveled through Latin America and absorbed the influence of the tango. When he returned to England, he formed a dance-oriented big band that was something of a U.K. counterpart to the USA’s similarly mellow Glenn Miller. (Ted Heath and Al Bowly were Geraldo alumni.) MEMORIES is a collection covering 1944 through 1948, and is highly recommended for those valuing the sounds of the “sweet bands” of pop music history.
