This album was my first of hopefully many. I was first inspired to start writing about it when I went to a Muse concert. The opening act was a band called Metric, and I distinctly remember during their set thinking, 'Man, if only i could sound like that.' Within the next few seconds I came to the realization that I was a relatively accomplished musician who already owned a recording studio, so why not? That was almost a year ago. The majority of the album was written during the summer of 2011, but due to my young age (junior year in high school), attempting to make time for recording during the school year has been all but impossible. Now after many short breaks and long hours of recording, I have finally finished a product that I am reasonably proud of. My decade of experience in drums and guitar made my musical ideas relatively easy to pull together. After so many years of practicing my chops, the sky was the limit. However, songs such as 'Subliminal Messages' have really pushed my technical threshold while hopefully retaining musicality. These songs also pushed my voice to new extremes. My inexperience in vocals proved to be quite a challenge because I often found myself writing for voices that I admire rather than my own. I think I've got the hang of it, but this will only improve over time. Although the material is a little dated in terms of what inspires me musically because of the set-backs, I still hope that it's release will give listeners a little glimpse into my imagination. That being said, I've already started writing the beginning works of a new EP or album, and thus the musical journey continues.
