Mr Nixon has earned a place in the lineage of singers and songwriters who have a true and legitimate gift for genuine romanticism. Here's an intelligent, articulate songwriter in touch with the essence of his style, and yet there's enough of what he's gotten him so many devotees in the past, especially those La Costa Brava partisans, to satisfy old and new aficionados. Es perfecta is indeed music bound to keep your heart permeable to life and, in some fortunate cases, even more receptive to hope. It is a conclusive proof that you may choose to keep your heart always open not due to being simply naive but because closing will be certainly more painful. To paraphrase Oscar Wilde, 'hearts are meant to be broken' but the real tragedy begins when they turn to cold stone. This album is incredibly mature, both musically and lyrically. It is clearly the work of someone who feels deeply the high and low moments of being alive. Songs such as 'Nadie es de nadie', 'Banderas rojas'; 'Líbrame señor' are fine examples of his depth of feeling, so moving, emotionally daring, and wise enough to mean something personal to the listener. Mr Nixon has a clear control over his artistic vision, he bleeds artistic integrity without looking back to the 60's, 70's, 80's or 90's for immediate inspiration. Es perfecta is the most beautiful, open-hearted and downright honest music being made today.
