Cops and Robbers was formed in 2008 by Canadian front-man Jordan Lee. A sound layered with over-driven guitar riffs, quirky synth lines, and edgy pop vocals, C + R is an up-tempo pop/rock departure from Lee's singer/songwriter sound. In the fall of 2008, Lee was invited down to Los Angeles to learn and develop his production and song-writing skills from 15 - time Grammy Award winning Pop producer David Foster at his personal studio in Santa Monica. Lee spent a month on the California coast assisting Foster on Seal's, then, soon to be released album Soul. After leaving California, Lee headed back to his home town Edmonton, Alberta, where he teamed up with Econoline Crush front-man Trevor Hurst to collaborate and write. It was through these sessions that Cops And Robbers was spawned. In the late months of 2008, Hurst introduced C + R to world renowned rock producer Sylvia Massy, who has worked with the likes of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tool, and the late Johnny Cash. C + R spent the first months of 2009 in California at Massy's Radiostar Studios recording their debut release Welcome To The Big Life. The result was a high energy Pop/Rock record full of sing-a-long anthems and edgy Californian sounds reminiscent of early Weezer and All-American Rejects.
