The Contemporary Folk were a popular folk quartet from the Minneapolis area during the folk boom of the early 1960's. They developed a nice reputation at popular clubs like the legendary Padded Cell and were soon playing major folk clubs around the country including the Troubadour in Hollywood and the Ice Palace in Pasadena. The group consisted of Dick Winther, Jerry Longie, Ed Knutson and Jerry Goodge. In 1963 they recorded this classic representation of the Minnesota folk scene at Kay Bank studios in Minneapolis.
