Synopsis

Soprano Regine Crespin is considered one of the most talented singers of her generation, now music lovers who may not have had to opportunity to hear her majestic voice firsthand can find out just what sets her apart from the pack with this collection of three vintage performances that have been lovingly restored and re-mastered for the enjoyment of generations to come. The first performance finds Crespin performing three of Berloiz most affecting compositions at Paris' ORTF in 1965. Then, after an extravagant performance showcasing the works of Schumann, Faure, Poulenc, Schubert, Duparc, and Roussel captured live in Paris in January of 1964, Crespin pairs with pianist Janine Reiss to perform the works of Ravel and Brahms in yet another Paris performance; this time from 1972. As a bonus, viewers are offered additional performances featuring Denise Duval singing the works of Francis Poulenc while accompanied by the composer himself. ~ Jason Buchanan, Rovi
