I am thrilled to announce the release of my new self titled album, Chris Haugen. Like it's predecessor, Seahorse Rodeo, this record features cinematic stories unveiled with sound. This time around I added electric instruments for a full band experience. Also, I sing a few tunes, including 280z. The basic tracks were recorded in a renovated barn (Red Barn Recorders) in Joshua Tree with Wally Ingram (Sheryl Crow), Mark Degli Antoni (David Byrne), and Mike Sugar (Jambay). My vision was to have everyone in the same room, play together, and channel the vibe of the space. No headphones, no isolation - just candlelight, and session breaks beneath the vast, starry desert sky. I worked with Michael Wilson at the legendary Prairie Sun for overdubs. I delved into the vault of vintage guitars and amps and uncovered inspiring tones, especially for bottleneck slide. Kate Gaffney added backing vocals, and Asher Fulero finishing touches on organ. The recording was mastered by Jeffrey Norman who is known for his work with Jerry Garcia. This project is an artistic milestone for me. It is honest and sincere. I'm so happy and proud to share it with you.
