The term "Chocolate City" was coined by black AM radio stations in Washington D.C. since the early 1970's where blacks had been becoming a majority through migration. Much great soul music starting in the late 1960's and continuing through the mid 1970's emanated from the city and the compilation presented here features some of the very best singers and groups from the era, focusing on rare soul gems that have become highly sought after in collector's circles.
