Most of the EP had been written years ago and only when I found the right producer and was ready to let go, I went into the studio. Catherine says: 'It is called 'Clowns' because clowns make me uneasy, and these songs are partly about people and myself behaving like clowns.' Some of the influence came from her own personal experiences and some was just inspired by others. But each song transcended from being encouraged by human beings. The album was recorded in rural Sussex, England, produced by Martin Smith who started the studio in late 1987 after a term in the Electric Light Orchestra, following a career as a producer, musician and writer. Mastered by Jon Astley who has worked with The Eagles, Joan Armatrading, Eric Clapton, and David Bowie. This EP evolves around her ethereal voice and her ability to take you into the song and let you be part of it.
