Review

Review Text The state of California probably gave C-Bo an unintentional career boost by incarcerating him in 1998. Over his career his lyrical content has been nothing if not consistent--think West Coast thug life, and you've pretty much got the picture. He likes to wax lyrical about gangsta action, 12-gauge shotguns, Glocks, the whole nine, as it were.THE MOBFATHER's production is pretty basic--a beatbox and some minimal keyboards--but C-Bo's strengths have always lain in his hearty dissection of his subject matter. He can make a mini-opus of a track such as "Hustlin'," while "Know Where To Find Me" has an immediacy in flow and language that places the rapper head and shoulders above most of his contemporaries. While THE MOBFATHER's adherence to gangsta philosophy is almost religious in its traditionalism, it's an entertaining enough slice of the hard stuff for those with the appetite.
