FYE Goes to 2019 World Tour BLACKPINK In Your Area Newark
May 17, 2019
Any K-Pop fan would agree that May has been full of K-Pop concerts that we have been waiting for so long, and BLACKPINK‘s World Tour is definitely on top of the list!
When we heard that the second dates got added to the tour, we figured that was destiny telling us to go meet BLACKPINK ourselves (😂).
So we went, once again…🚉🚶♀️
Venue: Prudential Center

The NY/NJ area stop of the BLACKPINK‘s 2019 World Tour was in Prudential Center, which also housed NCT 127‘s World Tour NEO CITY : USA – The Origin tour just the week before! It is almost like a second home to us now since then😉

On top of your regular tour merch booths, KIA, the tour’s official sponsor company, has installed booths for photo ops, raffles, and karaoke so that BLINKs can enjoy while waiting for the show to start! We saw many fans lined up to take photos with the BLACKPINK logo or sing BLACKPINK‘s songs with their friends.
Powerful start, and easing in
After watching & singing along to a relay of pre-show music videos, we watched an impressive VCR that utilized the tilted LED screens on the main stage as well as those on the side. The explosion of red, magenta, and pink lights transitioned into our all-time favorite, DDU-DU DDU-DU!
Check out the recording of this marvelous stage from the 2nd floor of the arena below!
Next, BLINKs all shouted “BLACKPINK is the revolution” along with Forever Young and got introduced to the mellower side of BLACKPINK, namely Stay and Whistle. These two songs served as perfect segues to solo stages of each member!
Magical Solo Stages
While we undeniably enjoy BLACKPINK‘s performances as a group, we think that the true gems of the tour are the solo stages! This is when the individual talents brightly shine & appreciate each and every one of them as talented queens as they are😉
After the heart-warming intermission VCR with fans covering BLACKPINK and giving them lots of love, the series kicks off with Rosé’s solo while she covers The Beatles‘ iconic song, Let It Be. Of course, the song itself is touching to begin with, but Rosé’s voice simply elevates it to a different level for us BLINKs😌
The song naturally transitions into You and I and Only Look At Me by 2NE1‘s Park Bom and BIGBANG‘s TAEYANG, respectively, both of which are from BLACKPINK’s senior groups in YG Entertainment!
The next solo stage was from Lisa, and of course it has to be the most powerful dance solo that we have ever witnessed in our lives💃 Check out the energy in the stadium while Lisa dances to Take Me by MISO and Swalla by Jason Derulo:
Then Jisoo continues to take us into the wonderland with a dreamlike cover of Zedd‘s Clarity! All the BLINKS in the arena jumped up and down with Jisoo on the extended stage😆
And then, the last but one of the four bests (😉), Jennie‘s SOLO! We were all captivated by her gorgeous expression zoomed in on the screen😍
Overall, we felt like the solo stages by each BLACKPINK members were the highlight of the show as we really felt like we were having a rare, once-in-a-lifetime experience with these special stages.
The Show Continues
Even though BLACKPINK doesn’t have many albums released compared to their years of activity, every single track they have released so far are absolute gems.
After a kickass band interlude, they performed Kill This Love, the latest title track of the album of the same title. Watching their performance live for the first time was amazing of course, but we gotta admit, shouting Rum, pum, pum, pum, pum, pum, pum with Jennie and rest of the BLINKs was the most fun part😜
The stage was followed by Don’t Know What to Do, which is also from the recent album, Kill This Love. The song is almost an opposite of the title track in terms of the lyrics, but powerful vocal from Rosé gives us chills just as during Kill This Love.
The remaining stages were intermixed with more band interludes and VCRs, but the time flew by so quickly that we almost wanted to see more of BLACKPINK even if it means we just watch them racing KIA cars all over again😂
The second day of the Newark show did not get Dua Lipa‘s special appearance, but the Kiss and Make Up cover was just as good as in the original collaboration. The following performances were also offered an immersive experience for all of us BLINKS as the tunes that we know and love came to life right in front of our eyes: Really, See U Later, Playing with Fire, Kick It, BOOMBAYAH, and lastly, As If It’s Your Last.
Encore Stages
The encore stages were both from the latest release, re-opening the stage with the remix version of DDU-DU DDU-DU and Hope Not, which is a truly heart-warming song that makes a perfect close to the marvelous night🎆
The BLACKPINK members giving credit to the band & closing in on the cameras were also just so adorable😍 Check out the encore stages and the ending from the video below!
