FYE’s 2020 Consumer Electronics Show Recap!
Jan 10, 2020
The 2019 shopping season LITERALLY just ended, and now that your shopping is done, it’s time for our shopping to start. Here at FYE, we pride ourselves on having one of the widest ranges of product offerings on the market. In order to keep our ever-expanding product lineup as fresh as possible, we spent the week at the 2020 Consumer Electronics Show to get a better understanding of the types of products we’ll be seeing this year. We met with vendors, enjoyed some truly impressive product demos and started to refine our plans for the upcoming year.
Here’s our take on some of the biggest trends we saw at CES 2020:
Health Sensors
Everyone knows the gym gets CRAZY busy in the new year, up until about Valentines Day…So, if you want to be one of the people that actually accomplishes their New Year’s resolutions this year, it might make sense to look out for some of the new wearable health sensors coming to the market. While your Fitbit may have been great for tracking steps and heart rate, we both know you occasionally sat on the couch and waved your arm to hit those ten thousand steps. Fear no more! Some of the newest wearable tech will have the ability to track your blood oxygen, determine your optimal heart rate and even let you know if you have sleep apnea!
Folding Computers?
At this point, we’ve all seen the new Motorola Razr V4. It looks like a conventional flip phone, but with a catch, it’s one big foldable screen. Now while it might be nice to really slam that thing shut after a heated phone call, could that technology really translate to laptops? Intel seems to think so. They have developed the “Horseshoe Bend”, which allows the device to fold on itself, acting as an all-in-one laptop or a tablet when laid flat.
Plant-Based Pork
Plant-based diets seem to be all the rage lately. With new issues springing up constantly about the meat industry it seems like plant-based diets are here to stay. Impossible Foods has accepted the challenge of feeding humanity in the future! At CES 2020 they showed us their new Impossible Pork, the 100% plant based alternative to the most widely consumed meat in the world. You can already find Impossible Foods “meat” in Burger King’s Impossible Burger, so keep your eye out for this Impossible Pork in the near future.
TV’s Everywhere!
If you’ve ever shopped on Black Friday, then you’ll agree that TV’s are pretty much a yearly purchase by now, and the amount of TV tech on display at CES 2020 certainly backs that up. Soon 8k will be commonplace and don’t be surprised if your next TV is actually just a wall! If you’re a fan of tech, you have to check out some of the TV’s that were on display.
Smart Home Technology
For any of you that have tried smart home technology in the past, you know that it can either be very cool or so much of a pain in the a$$ to set up that you eventually quit. This year at CES we saw a real commitment to the improvement of smart home technology, meaning that controlling your whole home from an app is closer than ever! Innovation in design and wiring have made the new dimmers and switches that we saw easy enough for your grandparents to understand!
