Synopsis

The episode of A&E's popular Biography series entitled "Robert Redford: American Outlaw" explores the personal and professional lives of writer-director-actor Redford, concurrently one of Hollywood's greatest powerhouses and yet a markedly elusive and evasive figure. The program explores Redford's early years as a set-builder, his discovery of acting, his seemingly endless string of blockbuster Hollywood roles, his turn to directing in the late '70s with such contemporary classics as Ordinary People and The Milagro Beanfield War, and his fervent activism in the areas of environmental causes and independent film. The program features candid interviews with such Redford friends and collaborators as Mary Tyler Moore and Jane Fonda, in addition to Redford himself. ~ Nathan Southern, Rovi
