Much like the subject of the movie, the soundtrack to The 40 Year-Old Virgin has a quirky case of arrested development, revelling in sublime and ridiculous songs from the '70s and '80s. Surprisingly enough, aside from songs like Smokey Robinson's "Virgin Man," JoBoxers' "Just Got Lucky," Asia's "Heat of the Moment," and Dr. Hook's "Sharing the Night Together," not that many of the songs on the album are about sex (or the lack thereof). Instead, the soundtrack concentrates on the atmosphere from the era, offering such definitive tracks as Chaka Khan's "I'm Every Woman," Lionel Richie's "Hello," and A Flock of Seagulls' "I Ran (So Far Away)." The inclusion of such inspired cheesiness as Survivor's "The Search Is Over" and the theme song to The Greatest American Hero make The 40 Year-Old Virgin a better-than-average comedy soundtrack. ~ Heather Phares, Rovi
