The second installment of Rhino's Youth Gone Wild: Heavy Metal Hits Of The '80s is divided between mid-'80s hits by David Lee Roth ("Goin' Crazy!"), Great White ("Rock Me"), Europe ("The Final Countdown") and Yngwie Malmsteen ("Heaven Tonight") and late-'80s cuts from Winger ("Seventeen"), Vixen ("Edge of a Broken Heart"), and Faster Pussycat ("Poison Ivy"). More than any other entry in the series, Vol. 2 suffers from cutesy, ironic selections -- there's no reason Sam Kinison's "Wild Thing" should have been included, and Helloween only gained fame after being showcased on Beavis & Butt-Head in the '90s -- and a few cuts, like King's X's "Over My Head," appear to be on the disc simply because they were personal favorites of the compilers. Nevertheless, Youth Gone Wild, Vol. 2 remains a good purchase, especially for fans who want to replace their worn cassettes with only the hits, not full albums. ~ Stephen Thomas Erlewine, All Music Guide
