Wounded Bird's three Randy Crawford two-for-one discs reissued six of the singer's first seven albums. Secret Combination, from 1981, was left out of the picture, quite possibly because it remained in print at the time. On 1982's Windsong and the following year's Nightline, Crawford continued to work with Secret Combination producer Tommy LiPuma, who supported the singer with arrangements that were fuller and more tricked-out in relation to her work through Now We May Begin. Plenty of fans prefer the subtler settings of those earlier albums, but Crawford had little trouble adapting to the changes LiPuma brought in. Windsong and Nightline were two of her most successful albums; both reached the Top 30 of the Black Albums and Jazz Albums charts, in addition to cracking the mainstream Billboard 200 chart.
