Woody Allen's 2009 comedy Whatever Works followed the turgid love life of a misanthropic, chess-obsessed ex-physicist played (in a real stretch) by misanthropic Seinfeld co-creator/Curb Your Enthusiasm star Larry David. The film's soundtrack is a solid collection of classical excerpts and swing, classic jazz, and big band tunes from the '30s and '40s, including Charlie Byrd's "Menina Flor,"Royal Philharmonic Orchestra performances from Beethoven's Symphony No. 9 in D Minor, Op. 125 and Symphony No. 5 in C Minor, and a curious rendition of "Happy Birthday to You" by David himself.
