First off, Madacy's Ultimate 16: Ultimate Hip Hop 30th Anniversary isn't really very ultimate. No hip-hop collection with tracks by Snow ("Informer") or Rick James ("Loosey's Rap") could be considered such. The rest of the disc comes pretty close to being awesome, though, with old-school jams like Afrika Bambaataa & Soulsonic Force's "Planet Rock" and Kurtis Blow's "The Breaks" snuggled up against more recent classics like Das EFX's "They Want EFX,"De La Soul's "Me, Myself & I,"Coolio's "Fantastic Voyage," and Digital Underground's "The Humpty Dance." Still, there are better rap collections out there that cover a wider range of styles (and don't include two songs by Naughty by Nature and none by Public Enemy or Run-D.M.C. to name a couple), so this collection comes off as too scattered and lightweight to be of much use.
