One thing Argentina is known for is its music, so it makes sense that much of the
Greatest Songs Ever series that deals with this country has its fair share of
tango on it. Though the master himself,
Astor Piazzolla, isn't actually featured on the album, two of his songs,
"Libertango" and
"Melancólico Buenos Aires" (performed by
Leopoldo Federico and
Sexteto Mayor, respectively) are included. As if that's not enough,
Aníbal Troilo's
"Comme il Faut" is present, as well as
Los Nocheros'
"A Don Ata." Argentine folk legend
Atahualpa Yupanqui's
"Luna Tucumana" is on here too, as are two tracks by rocker
Leon Gieco. There are some artists missing, of course --
Mercedes Sosa and
Leo Dan, to name just two -- and it's probably not necessary for
Luciano Pereyra to have two songs included, but overall it's not a bad collection.
