Post-Fabricated was originally released in 1999 on the Staalplaat label in a very limited edition. However, the disc was recorded to minidisc via analog, and then mastered by a studio engineer unfamiliar with Chartier's style. The compression from the minidisc player, along with said engineer's inexperience, led to Chartier's dissatisfaction with the end results. Fast forward several years, and listeners find Chartier painstakingly re-creating the majority of the original album in a digital setting. Unless you were one of the lucky 222 who purchased CD-R copies of the original work, you will nary notice the difference and will consider this to be a brand-spanking new Chartier disc, complete with the textbook ultrasonic highs and lows and digital chirps that made him one of the tops in modern microsound composition. Disc two is a bonus disc from some of the heavyweights in microsound, including kindred spirit/co-label owner Taylor Deupree, Alva Noto, Matmos, Steve Roden, Chessmachine partner COH, and avant-garde pioneer Asmus Tietchens. ~Rob Theakston, All Music Guide
