Considering that two of
Deathkiller's three members were previously members of such outfits as
Hatebreed and
Most Precious Blood (screamer/guitarist
Matt McIntosh and drummer
Anthony Realbuto, respectively), the group's 2007 debut,
New England Is Sinking, is a true blue
hardcore fest. And while
Deathkiller is musically reminiscent of countless other manly man
hardcore acts, there's something about them that makes them stick out from the pack, they're one of the few
hardcore bands to contain a female member (bassist
Christina Chiaramonte). Despite the fact that the group contains only three members,
Deathkiller easily holds their own against the other suspects, especially on such instantly-recognizable-as-
hardcore-song titles as
"Take Me to Your Bleeder," "Call in the Airstrike," and
"Fear and Loathing in D.C." Musically, it's not all that different from the rest of the
hardcore pack -- although a few ingredients show that
Deathkiller may think a bit broader than the average
hardcore band, check
Chiaramonte's
Helmet-esque basslines and the
Rage Against the Machine-esque chorus of
"New England Is Sinking").

About time.....
This is quite possibly one of the best hardcore cds of the past decade. Not metal, not emo. Just amazingly well written and performed rock influenced hardcore. highly recommended if you dig on Black Flag, The Bronx, Suicide File, Hope Conspiracy, Rise Against and even non-core like deftones or quicksand.
